Supporting Mental Health Awareness Month: Our Donation to NAMI

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to shed light on the importance of mental well-being and fight the stigma surrounding mental illness. This year, we're proud to contribute to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the nation's leading grassroots mental health organization.

The Scope of Mental Health

Mental illness is surprisingly common. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), in 2021:

    • 1 in 20 U.S. adults experienced a serious mental illness that substantially interfered with one or more major life activities.
    • 1 in 6 youth aged 6-17 experienced a mental health disorder in a given year.

These statistics highlight the prevalence of mental illness and the significant impact it can have on individuals, families, and communities.

Who is NAMI?

NAMI stands for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Founded in 1979 by families of those living with mental illness, NAMI has grown into a powerful force for good. They work tirelessly to:

    • Educate the public about mental illness and its treatments.
    • Support individuals and families affected by mental illness through programs and resources.
    • Advocate for policies that ensure access to quality mental health care.
    • Listen to those experiencing mental illness and their loved ones, fostering a sense of community and hope.

Why We Donate to NAMI

Mental illness affects millions of Americans, yet it often goes unaddressed due to stigma and a lack of resources. NAMI plays a crucial role in changing this narrative. Their dedication to education, support, and advocacy empowers individuals and families to navigate the challenges of mental illness and build better lives.

Throughout May, we will be donating 5% of our profits to NAMI in recognition of their vital work. We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and we're committed to supporting organizations that make a difference.

How You Can Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with NAMI's mission:

    • Visit the NAMI website: Learn more about mental illness, find support groups or educational programs near you, and donate directly to their cause.(https://www.nami.org/)
    • Raise awareness: Talk openly about mental health and challenge the stigma surrounding it. Share NAMI's resources on social media or start a conversation with friends and family.
    • Advocate for change: Contact your local representatives and urge them to support policies that improve access to mental health care.

By working together, we can create a world where everyone feels comfortable seeking help for mental health challenges.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let's pledge to support organizations like NAMI and make mental well-being a priority for all.
